Just my normal ramble before im off to sleep, gotta wake up early tomorrow reach office by 7am try to catch some Aus user their timing 3 hrs ahead of us. Dont remind me its a public holiday, yeah I dont really kira.
But i really kira, if ppl start barking at the wrong tree for the wrong reason. I dont want to call names, but if I do u'll probably agree with me, and i'll get myself in hot soup again if ppl were to find out what negative remarks I could write about certain people.
its related to the dark skin colour ppl in my temple. i think back also want to laugh, how one of the overworked staff was whispering to me about 'them' (while rubbing her finger on ur arm depicting skin). One of 'them' scolded her "you steal the fish!" and this staff got so mad, she was fuming when she narrated the incident to me at a small group meeting of aunty-uncle.
i recalled the night before, it was a major fundraising event, i was even asked to be a waitress doh. i've done that before long time ago and didn't really enjoy it, so here what can I do, say no I'd rather stay home watch TV?! my way of slying at work, bring my camera along and act as photographer. then i get to be near the VIP, and also run on stage to take upclose shot of miss chew and the VIP place the candle on the altar.
there's another 'datuk' who likes to be in the spotlight, but seriously i dont know who he is, he's always together with Saruman. they were all seated at the 1st VIP table. why didn't the more glamour datuk that I know off, sit in the same main VIP table?
the point i wanted to write is, it was not my sun sch event, but many of the kuli, runners, MC, dances, most of the waitresses were from my sun sch. it just occured to me that, 'they' were not doing the dirty job but they are they so-called main organiser.
the worst part of all, when 'they' started to show off right infront of everyone, i didn't know how other ppl could take it, but if they were to step on one strand of my hair...
one incident that could trigger me to react (but I didn't cos I was too naive to think), was when one of 'them' raised her voice at me as I took away one of the 'reserved' dish on an empty table towards the end of the dinner. I was trying not to waste the food, there were so much of food on that table, I didn't know it was 'reserved' by them for 'their dancers'. As I took away one of the the dish, and gave it to another table, that table of people warned me that they were not allowed to have it. And i said WHAT?!!!!
How silly... went back to kitchen and was also being told that at one table, all the food we 'cannot touch'... like doh. Haiya, you know what I mean lah... i have no point of writing, just want to say if things carry on like that, I see this international conference event a big joke to me. everybody trying to have the bigger piece of the cake, but make a big fuss over how to make the cake.
I'm beginning to realise why Gandalf really cannot stand all of them. And my dad also talks about why Tamil Tigers always fighting the SriLankan govt. If the people here behave exactly how they do back in their homeland country, no wonder Tamil Tigers also cannot live with them peacefully. Sorry to bring politics into the picture, that's how it goes.
I dont know when people will just grow up. It's such a sad thing for me to describe what I'm seeing at my temple.
Previously: i started this blog in my early 20's... My life is complete now with 2 kids, a son and a daughter. I associate myself being a mother after getting pregnant.

new year resolutions?!
ahem.. its that time of the year, do you make new year resolutions? if there's something really worthy for me to remember to want to make an effort to do it, yes i I do have that sort of new year resolution, hopefully achievable!
no i dun have a long list, just strucked my mind for a long time, probably since primary school, but back then I somewhat dislike learning chinese language. maybe the harder the subject, the stronger the resistance to learn it! ok, so i admire people who can truly speak both chinese and english languages fluently. you see how cctv newsreader or taiwanese VJ do that. why cant i?
blame it on my disability of speaking fast or rolling my tongue?! i dont know why learning chinese language seems so hard for me! dare not even tell how I got a 'D' for donkey in Chinese for my PMR. I went through saturday classes of form 4 Chinese, like 4 students only in a classroom, how lame. I dropped the subject eventually, took a long deep breath before I could somehow talk my mom into letting me drop that subject for SPM. My parents, as non-mandarin speaking as they are, they're number 1 supporter of Chinese language or anything Chinese.
so where was I? oh ya so what about new year resolution... yeah obviously, to really push myself harder to learn how to speak more Mandarin! It's just downright horrible listening to me speaking Mandarin to China users. It's still bearable speaking to Taiwainese, they speak slower. And me working in technical support (and probably for the rest of the next decade), with China that you cant run away from... i must learn how to speak proper Chinese, or atleast sing more Chinese songs fluently! :P it just amazes me how non-Chinese-ed people could sing Chinese songs fluently without knowing how to read the characters?! i just dunno how people do it, except maybe they remember the words / song by heart.
brings me to my next lame excuse of why I cudn't master the language. learning Chinese words is like using the brain cell to remember each and every words there is. I cant remember things easily. studying in lower secondary school was alot easier compared to schooling in primary school, no joke. the only way to learn chinese words, is through memory. each stroke, each different draw spells a different sound, different meaning. Has anyone counted how many words are there in the chinese dictionary. in english or malay, there's only A - Z, doh. english was kacang putih and malay is easier than chinese language.
I dont know if japanese char is based on phonetics, as far as I know all except Chinese is not phonetics. alright anyway, here's a compilation of words that I need to memorize for (atleast the minimum words to rememer) as my new year resolution (how simple is that for some of you ;p) --
software = 软件 ruan jian
hardware = 硬件 ying ti
add/remove program = 增加/删除程序 zhen jia san chu cheng xu
install = 安装 an zhuang
uninstall = 反安装 fan an zhuang
refresh = 更新 geng xin
restart = 从头开机
control panel = 控制面板
edit = 编辑 bian1 gai3
delete = 删除 san chu
email = 电子邮件
message = 信息
allow control = 允许控制
operating system = 操作系统 chao zuo xi4 tong3
how can it be, they say fish is brain food, i've been eating fish since baby... yet i cant memorize! brr... anymore technical terms you know in chinese that u'd like to share? I was switching my mobile phone language to chinese, wow... not easy.
so new year resolution for 2006, just simply -- improve my speaking & reading the Chinese language!

i closed my heart
Last night during a cell group xmas party, I felt really bored listening to a testimony by a new Christian who was a Buddhist before and I probably dozed off listening to the pastor telling a story from the book of Luke.
What probably amazed me was my very 'honest' 10 year old cousin, who told her mom, inside the car how "Joon che che was bored to death" and the mom replied "who ask her didn't open her heart". My uncle who was driving must be thinking the same thing about me.
I quite openly show my restlessness in that not so small group of adults, I could mix with the kids much better. Even talking to the muslim kakak made more sense. Kakak was also looking at them, dunno what to do just sat right beside me. I said they're praying the Christian way, with hands raised high above, eyes closed with the pastor just speaking very quickly. Then I was sitting at my own corner, doing nothing I just sat up straight, closed my eyes. My cousin looked and said "that's Buddha way of praying..." yeah... I pray this way, quietly no 'sound'.
Kakak was telling me how it is normal to have other religion people all living peacefully within the same community. She said she dont understand why Malaysia it is different. I ask how bad is Malaysia, she say we're always fighting?!! Now where did she get that...
The night was not about kakak and me... its just amazing how easy it is for anybody to be converted to Christianity. Anybody on the street who's suffering in one way or another, who needed to be 'reached out' to, will eventually seek forgiveness from God. I am so different from normal people on the street. I do not suffer a terrible life, for me to be 'saved'. I already feel joy in life, there is nothing so special about these people and their prayers. But how many people are blessed with a background like mine.
For many of the less fortunate people, God was such a great saviour to end their suffering. Because of God, the pastor could stop smoking after being a heavy chain smoker for years. Because of God, the born-again Christian found a new purpose of her life.
What was a I doing there in that cell group, I was being addressed as "VSP" not just "VIP"... I was of a group of 'very special people' to be brought here for this gathering by people who care for me alot. See, told ya year in year out... close relatives try to 'save' me. I just cant help wondering, what could Buddhist groups do to reach out to other people waiting to be saved?! Is there anything that I should do to defend the spread of Christianity? Or just let it spread and I sit here watch them.

so keksim....
something really stupid happened, and I still cant believe I let it happened right infront of my eyes.
I bought 3 handphones in HongKong, although 2 of it were for buying for others. Instead of paying 2.5% extra, the shop salesman (who looked not very highly educated) charged me 25% extra.
When I saw the final price, I did asked why is the final sum so much more (2.5% should be alot).. so he recalculated, with the confirmation by my cousin's friend. That it was correct. Actually I dunno what to say... how can 1 accounts-intern could also count wrongly? That man, although you may say he's trying to cheat me, but he really looked like he didn't know how to count.
I dunno what to say now.. its like HK$800++ extra that I've paid. I really need to do something before I go on having nightmare when I sleep. What more can I do now? Have to see who else going to HK again, or find that guy who's working in HK now to help me go back to the same shop to demand back for the money. This is gonna make me look so stupid.
Already found myself stupid enough to buy handphone in another country. Now this stupidity didn't end there. You know how hard I could get on myself for being stupid. Its like I cant tell anyone about it, definitely not my parents... yeah I get most 'keksim' when I did something that I couldn't tell my parents about.
Am also feeling 'keksim' for not having secure my new job yet with the client company, dunno why the CEO has to taking sooo long to sign an offer letter. Already come this far, but just get stucked at the CEO. Why do I always have to be at the mercy of bigshot company decision makers who have no idea who are they missing out on if they'd let me go. Cannot imagine how stupid I look if I fail to get this job due to a CEO who's not willing to sign.
Is there a cave somewhere that I could go hide forever...

option 1 or 2?
my 10 year old cousin asked me to choose, i said option 2. Option 2 is I must follow her family join an xmas party! bummer...
say xmas party and gifts exchange are fun, but knowing ulteriorly my uncle will wanna convert me! really lame. if u're christian dun continue reading this.
why cant they leave us alone.
a catholic friend onced asked me, if u find your religion so good why dont you want to share it with others? ...
anyway, i think i dun have any issue with catholics, just non-catholic christians who are all out there trying to save everyone else. even if they're not on a saving spree, i just cannot understand them.
in my heart, i really have something to say, but i dare not say, cos i'm known to have hurt many ppl with my knife-cutting words. until one day i had conversation with an Indian astrologer, he said it first. I really had the same thought that I cudn't say it. He asked me "do you know what is the requirement to become a Christian?"
(my answer in my heart was about blurp out...) when he said "Stupidity". Ahh... :) sorry that i have very insensitive thoughts, but am i really sorry? its who i am.
I like to repeat these words "stupid is as stupid does". ok i think i better stop, else im gonna create more enemy than i already have. (which i dun care of cos).
So what's Option 1? going for Xmas musical on Xmas day! Wow... that would be interesting... on second thought I've already been to 3 diff Xmas musical and not that my cousins are performing, better just go eat spaghetti! Hey how about I plan a Wesak musical? You know with nice creative storyboard, and find some suitable songs to match the play *wink wink* ;> Oh problem with the stage... where to have it?!
Glo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ria in Excelsis Deo! *my uncle's church, they always sing this.

as i type this..
my nose is half blocked. Soon the liquid will just flow uncontrollably.. yucks.. what's more yucky vomited this afternoon the whole bowl of mee soup.
do i not feel guilty the rest of the gang is at ssl?! what am i doing here at home... cudn't do much except to sleep and sleep and wish that I cud get cured asap. nobody likes to be sick i guess. my dad was 'teaching me a lesson' not to talk 'so big' next time about me hardly could get sick.
it's the same syndrome suffered by my mom after she came back from Nepal. First the throat get really itchy, then really swollen. Followed by high fever. I went to see the doctor only on the next morning, im probably diagnosed with bacterial infection. Blegh... i dunno. I just know i went to Macau, it was terribly cold that I couldn't take it and now im sick.
oh ya, and mom said something about drinking less water during my trip, yeah I knew I wasn't drinking much water to limit myself from looking for the loo while travelling. So here's the punishment for lack of water even in a cold weather!
The whole weekend just passed by without much contribution on my part for the camp. Though i did last minute bug Sue to chase for the postcards, cos my stupid SLK really got itself to a whole new problem - gear box dislocated. Somehow I dont really bother about my car, it wasn't my fault. I got a body to recover from, so dont bug me about my car.
Hope the Thai ppl are settling fine at bgf, i didn't know their flight is so early in the morning not late at night! Bummer.. needed more communication with these ppl...
how else can i recover faster?! felt thankful for this monday state holiday, yet will my nose keep 'dripping'! Ahh... felt like the lungs are really expanding... hey while isolating myself in the house, I got the chance to start reading this book, dad bought from Nepal.. 'Jesus lived in India'... cool eh? :P

i am very sleepy..
i am very sleepy.. trying not to sleep at the office now is as bad as trying to sleep comfortably in the airport in freezing Macau. The temperature was probably <12degree celcius. It was reported to be 12degree on 5th Dec. The day before was already 14degree, still bearable.
i did not have any thick winter jacket with me, and I'm not used to sleeping with aircon. So just imagine, shivering the whole night inside the airport. Dont ask me why dont I go somewhere else to hang out.. there was nothing, no where to go in a very lame place like Macau. I really really wish not to give negative comments to places I visit to... its just that the main attractions are just some old buildings where I've seen even older buildings with the same feel. Remember I was freezing cold in Holland, and I was seeing old buildings in eastern europe. Bleh.. I shud have stayed longer at McD... brrr.......
not a read-book person, although I brought a book along. Well, the communist newspaper given to me during the demonstration day in HK, was interesting to read, but you know what happen when you read very serious stuff in the middle of the night when you're very tired and sleepy and freezing? Well... manage to cover 2 huge pages... and still wishing to continue. It explains why China lost its Chinese values and traditional culture. This is really what I really wanna know... why does Chinese not wear their own costume when Indians wear Saree, while Malays wear baju kurung all the time.
Talk abt costume... well i just call it pretty lovely 'chinese dress' that I really wanna buy it back home but its always VERY expensive. So from HK i bought 2 pcs, from Macau bought 2 pcs.
It's a somewhat great shopping spree, minus the aching of the feet and knowing I have a 'budget' limit. I've completely crossed my budget, and running out of deficit credit through next few months. Bought 1 Samsung hp for dad and 1 Nokia phone for my bro. Well, I know they'll pay me back... yeah wait till that happens.
My car? Did you know my car was severely banged on the night of my departure for Macau?!!! I didn't know that until arrival this morning. Who else but the only guy left staying in my house would have sneaked out the house driving my SLK. Yes he does have a license but he is a terrible driver. Driving all the way to FEDERAL Highway at night!?!! I just dont want to spend a single coin for the car repair. This cousin of mine... 1 day ... just 1 day in the house with my parents in Bangkok, me going to HK, his bro going to Johor, and my bro in Ipoh... he got my car wrecked.
My teamlead is great. She asked me to go back early today.. like 4pm to rest. Sometimes I dunno what to comment having such nice teamlead working with me. I just have to 'be nice' with her too... and u know how 'easy' it is to 'be nice' to people. I dunno what to say when she said she wanna join me on my next adventure... not to say I dont want her along, but I havent even plan anything but only the 'interest' there are quite a few people already telling "can I join you to Cambodia?"
Next time... just take a direct flight to HK and save your energy & time, but spend a little more. Wait is there a next time for me? AWww... well that's the sweet question asked by the hostel uncle, he's my foster-dad during the 'homestay' in HK :) I thought I'd be staying in a hostel, but the hostel is managed by the Dai family, from Indonesia but they're Chinese. I greeted uncle good morning every morning and we just chatted about stuff... in basic Mandarin. The uncle's cantonese slang is very weird.
Many people in HK I meet do not speak with a fluent (tvb)type of Cantonese, its like the China-type of Cantonese. Not surprisingly, many people are not native HK people. It's great, well just flattering to know how some HK ppl thinks Malaysians are very clever. We know Cantonese, we know Mandarin, English and even Malay!
With my usual Mandarin conversation with my cousin sis, people will start to think we're both 'Dai Luk Mui' (from mainland China)... then I switch to Cantonese, and they'll raise their eyebrow.. and turn obliging when I start using English. But very very paiseh that I cant read as much Chinese characters as the signboards shown everywhere.
Knowing Chinese would be so beneficial. The roadsigns in Shenzen was only in Chinese characters. Great... at least I know some simplified Chinese, to figure out which was is to the train station.. even the MAP is in Chinese.
I have alot more to talk about, about Shenzen. Macau was complete tasteless to me so dun bother asking. HK is just HK but the sea water and hilly backdrop was much more captivating to me, than the high-rise skyscrapper in downtown Central.
I'd not give any rating for this trip, its the experience that counts I told my cousin sis. She looked alot more disappointed with Ocean Park and Shenzhen, but I told her to think it differently. Say after visiting these less than perfect places, we know how fortunate we are and appreciate our home country even more. Somehow relating my visit-to-China experience with Malaysian-police-harassing-China-nationals... did the Chinese ask for it? Just imagine all your encounters with rude Chinese people, I dare not ask where did my great grand father came from?
