When You Look, What Do You See?

When it comes to understanding people, I really like to source for information. Just as I'm doing that, I also realise that's a "P" characteristic. Always open for information, very inquisitive and not conclusive. Unlike the "J" who likes to have things settled and sorted out.

The MBTI just went through my mind like a real life experiential learning, as I try to understand the human-human communication / relationship. Esp between me the N & P with those with prefereble to perceive things through Sensing and react to the outer world through Judgingly. And how I wish I can always remember these tips on communicating more effectively with S type.

Here's extract from this article about WHEN YOU LOOK, WHAT DO YOU SEE?

SENSING
-Can’t see the forest for the trees > hmm..
-Comfortable with what is real
-Drawn to the past for understanding
-At work likely to give "perspiration" > I don't sweat in office...
-Sensible, practical, realistic
-Wants specifics and facts
-Prefers an agenda; sequential
-Values practical application
-Relies on direct experience
-Relies on evidence
-Orderly and predictable > so not me
-"If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!"

INTUITION
-Can’t see the trees for the forest > so me!
-Comfortable with what is possible > yes
-Drawn to the future for visioning > c'mon on let's dream...
-At work likely to give "inspiration" > ya ya...
-Imaginative, speculative, idealistic > so me!
-Wants general concepts and themes > yes
-Prefers freedom to brainstorm randomly > you bet!
-Values discussion of future challenges > I think so
-Relies on hunches and imagination
-"Break it and make it better!" > possible!

The ingenuity of the intuitive is to vision and imagine better possibilities. The ingenuity of the sensor is to adapt the ideas of the intuitive to practical usefulness. Each needs the giftedness of the other. In conversation, the Sensor hears what it said; the Intuitive hears what is NOT said. One tends to be the thinker-upper, the other the getter-doner.

TIPS FOR COMMUNICATING MORE EFFECTIVELY
To communicate more effectively with a Sensor:
Give specific examples. Follow a clear agenda. Provide detailed information in advance. Emphasize the practical aspect of the project. Give facts and details first, then the big picture. Use an orderly, step-by-step approach in presenting information. Compare new concepts to established, customary ideas.
To communicate more effectively with an Intuitive:
Show the Big Picture first. Allow them to share observations and insights without judging them negatively. Appeal to their need to be novel or unusual. Expect them to digress from the agenda. Allow them to discuss implications of the present for the future. Use poetic, imaginative language with analogies and metaphors. Understand that their communication style is roundabout and indirect.

Do you associate mostly with other people of your perceptual type, N or S? If so, cultivate friendships with your opposite. I have learned much from my S friends about how to mange time, organize errant paperwork, and how truly gifted they are in the logistics of planning and completing work. They tell me they have learned some useful things from N friends, such as, there is more than one way to look at a situation; when you don’t know what to do, stall for time; and dreaming about the ideal situation can sometimes help produce it!

The Designer

Cheng cheng cheng! Introducing the floorplan of my new house! Guess what I used to draw it? That's right... Paint. Would inspire alot more to use Visio, ahh.. the joy of the sketching out building and space... no wonder I thought I'd become an architect when I was younger. Take note though, its not to scale, cos I've only seen the place once and didn't do measurement then. This is purely whipped up through my imagination.
...ground floor...
...1st floor...

I wish I can do 3-D design using the computer, I used to take the subject 'Rekacipta' for SPM, supposed to learn AutoCAD but like err.. not-qualified female tudong teacher first time teaching this subject.. so err... forget it. I took that subject thinking I'm so gonna become an architect! Heck, even at my 1st INCOVAR at the 13th IDC, in one of the experiential-learning workshop, thought I was convinced I can still become an architect one fine day when I'm 40 years old!

Ya don't ask me why I end up in UPM and doing CC Engineering la... got la civil engineering and landscape architecture... but not same mah! Also got the parents factor as a kid.

So back to the house, sayang was thinking of breaking down 2 walls. I err... more into looking at the whole budget and money part. He said he's gonna be the interior designer, ok actually we both have really keen eye on design, but I realise I'm more "P" and he's so "J". It just dawned on me, he's so "J" and I'm so "P"! *if ur blur, go study mbti*

I couldn't even decide what is my favourite theme for a house concept, I can't even tell which colour to go where, or what type of cabinet should go for the small kitchen. Or whether hacking the kitchen wall is such a good idea, or hacking both walls. Or having lacy curtains or having bamboo-ish stick curtain. Or as simple as WHICH bedroom should I take?! Which one to convert to study room?

Oh boy... is there a solution to being "P"? Ya... have a boyfriend so "J". Haha... but with regards to the homeloan -- ocbc it is.

Aspire to think Big!

Wow.. look at the market. This is just one of the graph for one of the client, for a local balance-income fund (not aggresive). I was telling my upline if only I sold off the units before 2008 then can get 30%!
But she said "we can never Time la!". That's the theory that I learn, which I mostly agree about investment, which is to go for long-term investment and using dollar-cost-averaging to help me keep sane with the yoyo market.

I'm honestly not cash rich enough and not ecomonically sound enough to risk in the volatile stock market. I also don't know how to buy-sell properties like Robert Kiyosaki. So what I do is keep RM200 aside everymonth into a fund with one-goal in mind, make the money grow until when I'm old!

I must always remember why I must do long-term investment -- retire at 55 & my epf balance by then will not be enough if I were to live until 70 years old. Factor in my suka travelling + many hobbies... havent even talk about charity! Imagine if I can become a tai-tai with alot of cash to do alot of Dana anytime! :P Like in future, when INCOVAR think about asking for sponsor, they think about 'auntie quek'!

Hmm.. do I dare to think big? Well maybe just a little bigger than my current small contented brain? I'm just sooooooooooooooo complacent, I don't seem to set smart financial targets for myself... why not?! Wouldn't you really want to bring your mom and munyee+his mom to Europe holiday together? Wouldn't it be cool to have just a little bit more in your asset, so that you don't have to argue with your dad about petty household expenditure? Wouldn't it be nice to be able to give your parents more than what they're asking for? C'mon MJ -- I need a little push here -- you aspire to think BIG!

My f***ed up country

Well its pointless to rant about the gridlock in KL last Monday, more so because I was not caught in it (reason why I choose location over better reasons), but I sooooooooooo cannot tahan what my country is going into.

Constantly glued on Mkini.com... it is sooooooooooooooo pathetic what the BN-government is trying to do. Who the #^%^$^%&*@!! care if a 60-year-old man raped a 23-year-old tall young man?!! Oh they say sodomy is big sin in Islam, punishable to 20 years in jail if convicted... oh you means that's WHY the government has no other proper intelligent way to stop the opposition from taking helm? No wonder the BN is scoring its own goal.

Too bad I didn't listen to the debate live on TV (went to bgf support dr. cky talk), but I wished the media, the people, the parliament would all seriously look into the impending economy crisis. We're all wasting so much effort, so much publicity, so much time wasted in roadlocks due to stupid politics and to rub salt into wounds... they're not talking about how to tackle the heart-attack composite index?! Just let it drop further and further?!

Just let prices sour? Just ignore the relevent points brought up in the debate? Why the government and the Sbah/Swak MPs got no balls? Just read world economy news and I don't know when to press the panic button or if I should already be panic!

Anyway... I have to learn to release my air inside my body... cannot keep getting sucked in feeling like the stupidest fool being a Malaysian.

I don't even care if there's a street protest right now, I would just march on the street like all fellow 90% of the urban folks who voted for opposition on March 8.

Screw the governemnt.. screw BN!

NKOTB Reunion!!!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!! *hyperventilating* Is this true? Is it true?! AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! You might not this, but I was... no I AM proudly a New Kids on the Block die-hard fan! I still have not met them real life in person *garrrrhhhh* the closest I got to meeting Joey Mcintyre was when he was supposed to come to Malaysia to promote 'Stay the Same' and I won the "meet Joey Mcintyre" press conf pass through Hitz.fm and my ex-housemate was also so excited for me (think I was freshman in UPM).... but in the end his tour to Malaysia was cancelled abruptly on the last minute!! But he was in Spore!! And my icq buddy Stew (a guy who doesn't know much abt Joey Mac) actually went to see him!!! Urrrgghhhhh... And that also because I was soooo hyped up abt his visit to S.E.A that Stew went to see Joey Mcintyre in the flesh!!! Oh boy... Stew said "he has so intensed eyes" ...you said it right.

2008 Reunion
On April 3, 2008, Donnie Wahlberg told CNN that the band had reunited, and were recording an album of new material, and was planning to tour.[5] The producer RedOne previewed several tracks for a Boston Globe interviewer later that month; some of the song titles on the new album include "Click Click Click" featuring Nasri (who is the producer, along with Hakim AbdulSamad and Adam Messinger, of the original and the NKOTB rendition), "Close to You", "Looking Like Danger", "Big Boy/Big Girl" featuring Lady GaGa, and "Summertime".[6] They're also working on a song for the new album called "Full Service" which will feature New Edition. [1] Some other song titles "Two in The Morning", "Single" and "Dirty Dancing". [1]

"Summertime" (2008)
In May 2008, the group released "Summertime", as a downloadable single on various online digital music services. They also posted the tune on their MySpace page. The new album, according to Billboard magazine, was not expected until the fall.[7] The song immediately turned up on several radio stations, including WXKS-FM (Kiss 108) in their home city of Boston, Massachusetts. It received 114 spins across two formats (CHR/Pop and Hot AC) in its first day.[8][9] A music video for "Summertime" was shot on May 9, 2008. [10]
The group had their first reunited performance at the House of Blues in Los Angeles, California on May 13, 2008. A video of the performance was released and stated that people who attended the performance are the "first to witness".
The group performed a medley of their hits and their new song "Summertime" live on Today on May 16, 2008. The performance attracted one of the biggest crowds, some 4,000 people, in the show's concert series history. [11][12] They also appeared on May 17 and 18 at two annual showcases put on by local radio stations in the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut and Boston markets. (They shared the stage at both shows with The Jonas Brothers.) [13] [14]
On Sunday, June 15, 2008, the group performed live on the 2008 MuchMusic Video Awards, filmed on outdoor stages in downtown Toronto, ON.[15]
According to the band's web site, the reunion tour will kick off at Toronto's Air Canada Centre on September 18, 2008. [16] UK singer Natasha Bedingfield has recently signed on to become the opening act on the tour across the country.

Ada ke Takda

I wanted to blog my observation of being single vs being attached with somebody. As I discover further, there's alot of Pro vs Con that can be found in many circumstances, eg. living with parents vs living outside.

Without a boyfriend, a girl can be independent, not only having the freedom or the choice to be independent but also to have the strength & ability to be independent. Eg. knowing where you park your car at the basement of the mall, like she's totally alert, mindful and streetwise. But with a boyfriend, you tend to lose track of where you are, the mind wondering off holding hands like you don't know how to cross the road.

Without a boyfriend, you get to hang out alot with other friends, and plan for outings with different gang or anything that goes. With a boyfriend, you tend to spend less of your time with other friends esp gal friends whom you'll usually go watch movies with.

Without a boyfriend, you can talk loudly, burp, fart, walk freely and basically do anything as you wish... but being with your boyfriend you gotta mind your manners, and esp with your with future-i-l, you gotta behave yourself & give face :) .

But why am I sharing all these? Not that I'm not thankful and happy to have my heaven-sent boyfriend... but I'm trying to justify to myself (& hopefully to girls who think this might make sense) that it is perfectly ALRIGHT to be single and free!

I embrace and admire freedom just as much.

The subject of living with parents is somewhat a similar story. Now that I'm planning to move out to live in my own property (with my name on it!) will I miss living with my parents?

As you can see, I salute freedom. I get excited over how I want my house to be, what picture to put up the wall, which room I get to choose, how I want to place the furnitures etc. If you're living in your parents home, you don't exactly have all the freedom.

But I truly appreciate the fact that my ancestor house is so complete. I don't have to worry much. I get to eat mom's home-cooked food everyday. *paiseh* I don't have to do much housework :P Hey there's astro on t.v!

When I have my own house, no money don't grow on trees, so I won't have astro, no cleaning lady. Not sure if I'll have cable connection, not knowing if I'll have the time to do all the housework, not sure if my dad will be so bored without me around.

There's always both sides to a coin. So I'm not going to compare which is better but I'll remind myself to count my blessings wether ada ke takda.
