Time is running... *panting*
End-user support work life now doesn't seem as stressful as previous vendor-support life, with no sla and much more cooperative colleagues. So far I've only encountered one nasty user who freaked me out so much (reminiscence of ex big SG cilipadi boss set in), compared to before where nasty bitchy users were everywhere.
I'm guilty for not posting anything about my Bangkok Kathina trip in October 2009, it was such a good trip... that I could still remember a few points that I wanted to blog about - Mudita. Besides that, I remembered I felt a sense of calmness and peace at most of the monasteries that we visited, like going for a spirit cleansing spree! We meet lotsa good people, we stayed at Pong's hse for a night (myee's uni friend when he studied in aussie).. we had dinner with Denphong & his wife... I was drenched soaking wet when I dashed in the rain from Platinum plaza back to Central Plaza... good thing I bought 3 blouses at Platinum, that I walked straight into Isetan's toilet and changed my top (my pants was still wet)... and i still didn't fall sick after that. We bought some souvenirs from the Gift Trade Fair for our new house.. good thing they accepted creditcard :P there were some really nice cute cool little stuff that I wish I'd more hands to buy back so that I could wrap it as x'mas gift during this time of the year.. (now i have not much choices but to go to sogo during lunch time). It was my 3rd trip to Bangkok and yet we're contemplating to go for Kathina in Thailand again next October! Well this time must bring our parents along.
Other than Bangkok... I'd book for myself promo-fare to Hanoi @Vietnam inconjuction with her 1000th anniversary! Ooohh before I dream too far ahead... I have a honeymoon trip to Bali @Indonesia! If only relationship with a life-partner is as smooth-sailing as fantasy.... then I wouldn't have any valuable lessons to learn in this life journey pursuit.
As the wedding date draw near, I'll tell myself to let go... to let go of expectation of things and events that I've envisioned before. To let it go if things didn't turn out like what I'd expected it to be. I can tell that I won't be able to be in the zone... you know how I would not be embracing the moment if I were to expect for what's next...
Surprises doesn't surprise me. I live in a world of knowing and expecting what's gonna happen next. Life is kinda predictable this manner. I'm being labelled as 'indifferent' and its not to be mistaken for 'upekkha'. I'm planning for my penpal 2-weeks visit in Malaysia... I'm planning for x'mas gathering at my new house and test use my virgin oven... I'm planning for friends to stay at my new house during the m&m wedding... I'm going to print my own wedding photoalbum... I'm doing my own wedding slideshow... to add to the expectation, my other half insisted on designing and printing own invitation cards... he even wanted to have his own wedding favor container / box.. my mom wanted to make her own fruit cake as wedding favors for guests...
On top of all these expectation to commit with, im expected to get the bgf communication plan for 2010 up and running. Continue where we left for the membership system thingy. And I got voted in as exco at my sunday school for publication dpt... aiya.. so what am I trying to san-meng now?!
Just live and let live... hope that my missing hsbc cc will reappear infront of me.. i malas to cancel it cos all my insurance autodebit is under that account... hope that i can still get thinner come my wedding... hope i'll continue be blessed with happiness, understanding mind, big heart, good health and good family members to walk this journey of life with.

Deciding the bridal gown... urrggghh...
HOW THE HELL AM I GOING TO DECIDE?!?! I know I'm looking for empire cut, A-line or small-A, with medium train and I like lace. But those blink-blink is nice on me too! I say I like "simple" but some simple can be too simple for my nyak-nyak-joong meijoonised personality.
What do you think?!

有命去,没有命回来。
有命去,没有命回来。At first I didn't believe the sms that sayang received, but I saw charlie sir online. If it is true... charlie sir must be devastated. I don't know what to say, to verify the news, I msg him. It's true. It's even in the Bernama news online.
I last smiled and had a quick chat with sis. Julie Ang at SABS on 15-Aug. Even sis. GG Tan was there, but I didn't go up to her to intro myself. It was told that sis. GG Tan is the organiser for the Dama Orchestra fund raising show to be held on 10-Oct at klpac. I wanted to approach her to inquire about klpac, perhaps a probable venue for igemz launch.
I'm not 100% sure if that was her... somebody pointed out to me "nehhh that's her!"
As for sis. Julie Ang, I joked about getting a Bali package quote from her (for my honeymoon right after my wedding in Jan next year). She's always cheerful, funny and smiling.
She was a very "yau yeng" helpful and kind person. She's very close assistant to rev saranankara. She helped run an old folks home. She's a great cook although I've not have the chance to taste her glamour food. She'd belanja me and my other co-mdl secretary a very nice fish-noodle lunch. She's also a teochew lady, like me.
She trusted me to be "jaga" for the 15-member travel group to Ladakh in Autumn 2008, as she couldn't join us due to financial constraint. She finally saved enough to go on her first trip with bro charlie (and now its also her last trip) to Ladakh leading 38 other people. This time she's the yau-yeng "jaga"...having to settle everything for everyone, including the visas, the payment, the booking, the excess luggages, the fun, the assurance, the (10-seater-van) driver.
1/6/2009 - Sis Julie helped bhante Sanghasena to check-in for his departure back to India. *me & bhante nagasena taking the picture*
27/9/2008 - I took this picture at klia before we depart for Delhi. Sis Julie (in yellow) came to 'check-in' for all of us.
2007 - BISDS students giving donation to sis Julie for the Old Folks Home.

crapping... after so long not crapping...
But I'm not going to kill myself for that... am trying to learn to have lower expectation, cos its good for my heart. I know I have difficulty breathing esp when I'm not conscious enough to breath properly when I get excited.
There was this email fwd to me, which I thought struck a chord in me.. an interview with a heart specialist >>
Qn: What are the ways in which the heart is stressed? What practices do you suggest to de-stress?
Ans: Change your attitude towards life. Do not look for perfection in everything in life.
As I'm blogging now, I'm publishing my coursemate's wedding photos. Just last Saturday, I had the chance to shoot at this really cool catholic church, for schoolmate's wedding. Although I must admit there's a lil envy in the air... but as I look deeper into the lense, what I should be envious of is this girl (whom I hardly associate with, whom I don't really enjoy being with, who got married to a rich guy) have really close buddies that she could be proud of to be her bridemaids/bestman! I knew the bridemaids and bestman were her primary school classmate since std1! Me? I have no contact with any of my primary school classmates, except for EM whom I hardly talk to in secondary school anyways. Now that I have to buy home appliances, then I get to talk to her abit more.
Life... somethings you like... some things you don't like. You can't have it all the time all the things that you like and not accept the 'whole package' the good, the bad and the doh-ness. I'd like to have pretty qipao for my chinese wedding dinner, but I'm supposed to wear kwa. So of course I could go change, from kwa to qipao, but I don't like the idea of changing in the middle of a wedding dinner and miss out that few minutes... but if I don't change how the hell am I going to wear 2 two different dress in one dinner? I'm a nut case. Then I also know that a qipao is only nice if u have really hot / slim bodyshape... which obviously I don't have. So forget it?! Hmmm... if I don't wear a nice long qipao at my wedding, I probably won't wear it at any friend's wedding dinner.
And then there's the small budget to live with... I can't have it all. I have to be contented even if its your own wedding... to be happy and feel honoured that I do have friends.. and family.. who will be happy for me for getting married. They will be happy even if I don't have the most gorgeous dress, they will be happy even if I don't have a slim figure, they will be happy even if I'm just being the siow me... why be cranky about not losing the kilos, or not knowing where/how to get the prettiest qipao that fits, or not having enough money to splurge on my wedding?
Just like my new house that soon will be my new home, I love the olive-green colour on the kitchen wall... i love the floral-pendant light we bought for dining area.. I can't understand why sayang want 'spotlight' for living room ceiling... he want birdcage for the porch lamp... he prefer the plain simple warmlight for the bedroom... nevermind... there are somethings that just can't be explained, and I have to learn to accept it. I can't have everything that I want that I like... Did you know that I don't like grill for windows... cos it looks like living inside a cage or a human-zoo. I worship freedom, I like big pieces of glass. I don't fancy birdcage becos it is = a cage = no freedom. But everybody is telling me > how can you not have grill for your window? Err... so what did I pay my monthly maintenance/security fee for?
I like dangling stuff. I wish I can hang strings of crystals draped down from the ceiling acting as room partition / or just for deco. But sayang don't like... future-in-law also don't like.
Hmm... what else to crap about? Megasales.. i wanna go shopping.. thought of getting a pair of wedding shoes, but i know i won't be able to take it standing / walking for long hours wearing high-heels. So what's the point of buying expensive high-heel fancy wedding shoes? Just for photographer to shoot it before I wear it in the morning? I wish I don't have to wear shoe inside the house during all those tea-ceremony.. knowing all my uncles and aunties will want to take turn for me to pour tea for them.... and there i have to stand in those high-heels? Gossshhh... i wish i can be like AnnNgw, saw her wearing a flat zebra-stripped shoe, so comfy! If i wear that, my mom is going to yak yak yak yak yakyak yak yak yak yka yak yak yak yak.... until u wish ur deaf.
You know this wuliow life... there's this ROM coming up, and sayang ask who am i inviting to vihara for the simple signing, blessing ceremony & vege lunch at annalekshmi next door. He said "how about people that we're not inviting for the wedding dinner?" Dohh... means ppl who not close!?! cos if they're close friends, they would be in the dinner invitation list! Siggh... so now I also don't know who to ask to come for the ROM and join in the lunch. Actually I'm thinking - just chinchai ask - who like to see how Buddhist / temple ROM is like are welcome to come and witness! How often do people get the chance to see witness a Buddhist temple blessing & marriage solemnisation? I'll be most glad to have all those not-so-Buddhist-inclined friends and relatives, esp my Christian relatives to come to a Buddhist temple! :D Just for experience sake! I've attended so many times - a church wedding... I wish people have the chance to attend a buddhist temple ceremony!
OK finish crapping. Will be going to spca tomorrow morning, bringing my sunday school class students. Did I tell u, there's a new boy in class, and he proclaimed that he's a christian, and he's just there to obey his mom. Cos his parents sorta forced him to come to Buddhist sunday school. I asked why are you a christian when both your parents are Buddhist? He couldn't answer. I said - so you joined CF in school? He cheerfully said yes. Because of friends you joined CF? Well.. uh ha. It's gonna be interesting for me this second half of the school term... but I guess the Dhamma teachings is still the same, I must be conscious that I shouldn't just pay attention to him just because he's more challenging, and neglect the other 3 girls who are very obident and very willing to practise the Dhamma. They don't come late for puja, they sit through puja diligently, bow their head with palms folded when they see a monk. And the boy? When he heard that puja means chanting he said he don't to be excused from it, cos he's a christian. I roll my eye... but yet at the same time I want to reach out to him... I want to show him, its basically about compassion and metta and generosity... later in life, he will have the wisdom to read deeper if he's inquisitive enough, curious enough to find out what is this Dhamma all about. I know that I don't need to label anyone a Buddhist or a Christian, as long as human beings are virtuous, and are capable to care & share, able to practise all the nilai-nilai murni that students have to memorize in school... that is Dhamma. And people of all labels should just embrace the differences and diversity of life.
People must learn how to choose/decide what is right and what is wrong, using their own human intelligence.
Enough... go sleep!

is it really miracle?
When i wanna write, i need to write there and then, if not my mind will lose track of what i was thinking inside. I wanted to write about why am i so inspired by bhante sanghasena, and what was the cause of the fund raising dinner all about, and why would i bother to take leave to go all the way up north and down south to be co-kapiya for bhanteji.
I was so tired when I reached home at 2am after taking the flight from S'pore.
I don't know what is it that bhanteji got, but when he speaks with his sincere tone of voice, it moves you until your tears also wanna keluar. One ocassion, I asked my parents to join in for a lunch (after coming back from Penang) with bhante at a vegetarian restaurant, there were a couple other friends of sayang who were asked to join in the makan. At the end of makan, bhante chup everybody and gave a speech at the big round makan table! In that short touching speech, he made me and my mom eyes red! All he did was looked into my parents and raised his left hand gestured to me and said "you have good daughter... to have good daugther you must be good parents..."
*ok writing this also my eyes red now*
That's it I couldn't control the water from rolling down my cheeks.. i had to change focus, stare blank at the ceiling, look at the wall, just switch off the mind... I don't know how he do that... but he just did it.
I listened to a couple of talks by him, its inspiring. Of course I didn't cry through his Dhamma talks, but it's really wonderful experience spending time talking with him together with sayang.
A monk with a maha-thera title, asking you for feedback for his talk. Asking you for comment about what he shared, is it good? Is it applicable to the people? Wow.. I thought only incovar camps make big deal about feedback forms. He is so unusually humble!
Once he cracked a joke with me "there are 2 types of 'chief' monks, 1 is chief, 1 is cheap... and i am cheap monk". Then he smile broadly...
I sent him off at the airport.. he walked along with his handcarry bag... I was holding my camera, trying to shoot the last picture I can shoot of him before I don't see him anymore. Everyone else had already turn around to walk towards exit, I was still there at the side watching as he go down the escalator and for a moment he turned back to wave goodbye but everybody already moved on... bhante moved on. I had to control my eyes again... I don't know why.
It is true, that when people have chance to associate with bhante, they will somehow be inspired, not truly inspired.
"Illiteracy and poverty are the biggest enemies of mankind. They must be fought and conquered at any cost. Nothing else gives me more happiness than to see the deprived children blossoming into the light of education and meditation" ~ Venerable Sanghasena.
Bro. Rasika Quek said if these words were spoken by Obama, it will be so powerful.
Right now, I'm excited about being part of the MDL... to be part of this miracle in the making!

...dreaming Bali
I'm enthusiastic abt the fundraising dinner on 24May... but I need to get that poster done for sun sch wesak *isssghhhhhh* and I might need to 'jaga' my class students for Wesak procession, cos the school is encouraging EVERYBODY to turn up for the procession > walk 10km around city centre holding lotus candle... as a teacher... urrrgggh.... im so no cut out to be a teacher. What can motivate me to go is probably to play with my dslr+speedlite... how to play with my camera and be a teacher at the same time?!
Well something interesting to share, about my dad... his bday is on 9th May, which means this year it falls on Wesak Day! So being the some-what spiritual dad he is, he's pledging to visit 9 temples in one holy day AND maintain vegetarian for the whole day! :D If only I can join my dad go temple hopping at his own pace.. sesuka-hati.. he's going to pop in to my mom's tibetan centre, then drop by my future-m-i-l's chinese temple, probably drop in bgf just for the baby-bathing thingy (he think bgf is not a temple), then Thai temple... If im with dad, i could have MORE chances of making good use of my dslr... but i know i'll be stucked at both bgf and bmv. The dreading part is actually the parking / jam / bare the heat... all alone, or bring along guests where I can't leave them alone.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh.............. i haven't even submit my tax claim!

Blackberry.. Grooming...
OK the tiny keypad is not fun, no it's not for long-winded msn chats. I get dizzy trying to concentrate my eyes on my report on desktop monitor, and fingers pressing on the tiny QWERTY pad in reply to msn msg.
Maybe its cool that I can connect with people online, while on the move in the lrt. Double cooler that the guy standing nearby was looking at me. Hmm... I think to myself, do I want to attract attention by carrying an LV bag with a great bitchy hair or by squinting my eyes trying to use a Blackberry?! Both also will cost alot to me, I'd rather be carrying the gadget!
I'm waiting to see, for how long they'd allow me to use it, with unlimited data access (no voice service). Thus practically breaching bank's security policy. But in the whole bank, there's only 27 users, only HOD & CEO have it... and now I have it - instead of for critical business purpose, but for system support :P haha.
~*~
I met some priviledge banking "rm" during a grooming course that I attended last week, trainer was Wendy Lee from ChapterOne. Coming from technical background, I was blur > I didn't know rm means 'relationship manager' and priviledge banking is something 'superior' and to be a banker serving high-net-worth customer, one needs to be very properly groomed, wear business-suit, put on makeup, and... behave like very lansi!
The trainer was surprised that I volunteered myself to join the grooming course, and I was the only one from IT. One look at me as I walk in, she couldn't stand by eyebrow. During the hands-on makeup lesson, she came over to me to 'shave' my eyebrows! I know I learnt alot about attire, makeup, hair, etiquette, etc but I ask myself this (again) > do I really want to follow?
She said, if everybody in your depart do not put on makeup, then you must put on light up. If everybody puts light make up, then I should even be better groomed - for the purpose of to STAND out. She talked about the survey about people getting paid more / climb corporate ladder faster - if they're more attractive / pay attention to grooming.
And she even acknowledge that the wester etiquette that she teaches, can be "keh keh" but what to do, this is the society, where business = english dominant = western culture. Too bad for Chinese ed, we have to learn how to follow the gweilo culture, and the english ed people just have to forgive the chinese ed for being rude / crude / too-straight forward / reserved etc.
I guess through my 6 years in typical chinese primary school, I am classified as chinese-ed, although I can't write / read / speak chinese properly. I don't know how to "keh keh" when I talk to people, I actually have alot to follow & learn in this subject called grooming.
Back to the question -- do I want to STAND out? Do I want to have the edge over others? Will I start putting make up? Will I learn to talk "keh keh" style on the phone? The CHOICE is mine. The trainer reminded that, coming for the grooming course will be wasting time, if we do not choose to change. Change do not happen overnight, but I can gradually change 3-6 months down the road.
To present myself with an image for other people including strangers. What is the image do I want to portray? Do I want to do something about my image that will represent for who/what I want to be?
Actually.. I'm still thinking... and this is no end. I've been questioning myself since I was a teenager - and I'm still questioning myself now - and I have not settled for an answer. I am much more contented with myself than having the motivation to change my image! I don't know why!
Lansi young slutty banker sneered at me "u work in IT can earn much meh?" I doh-ed in my heart, and I know my answer inside, and she won't get it. I care not to reply. I very thankful for having touch base with the spirituality and having kalyana mitras.

Dresses and flowers!
Today sayang came along to the bridal shop (the only shop that I know how to walk in...) > the gown that I think I'm making up my mind on, which is RM680 if I get the one off the shelf with pink band (RM780 for newly tailor made where I can choose any colour for the band) is something like this, or this, or this.

and this...

im hungry but i need to lose weight
I was at this bridal-gown-for-sale shop at SS2, I went alone.. but I saw a few other ladies browsing through the catalogue with their other half. Erm... you know I'm just so me, I know what I like, and the chinese lady was pretty 'honest' with me, by saying "u can fit in that", "that's too small for you", "this cutting is not suitable for you"... ok doh so I left with not many choices in terms of 'cutting / style' and I actually felt uncomfortable in off-shoulder gown. It's so tight at the arm! So left with this only one gown that fits perfectly fine on me, infact that's the 1st gown that the lady took for me to try and she said I can wear this. And its plain, simple and RMM700++ (the others got RM800++). She said it unenthusiastically "actually this is European design".
In my heart I say -- that's the point. I couldn't imagine wearing the other gown with all the weird cutting, funny organza, too much embroidery.... and I think I'm pretty cool with just me and the fitting room mirror, without needing sayang to give second opinion. He's the other super busy fella doing all sort of things... I cannot even begin with who has a busier life!
I'm already really tight up with lotsa agenda... and I've just added something new -- producing a video clips that could touch people's heart, featuring my sunday class teenagers. The theme given to our class wesak project -- "compassion in action", incidently the ladakh fund raising dinner is also themed "compassion in action". I'm not sure if I'll be given the greenlight to include real life example of Ven Sanghasena in my class video project, but at the very least, I'm going to propose to interview the students on how they show their compassion / care / kindness/ gratitude towards another person closest to them, can be their mom, dad, bestfriend, teacher etc. I can prompt them "who is the most important person in your life?" "how do you spend time with your mom?" "if given a chance to show your gratitude towards your mom, what would you do?" I dunno.. I'm just thinkign inline with recording with pure innocent answer from the students, and they giggle and smile shyly as they share about their story... then I'll get them to shoot photo or video clips abt that special person... then I'll compile all together, put a nice sentimenal melody in the background...
I was only thinking that since this is a class project for the school exhibition, I'd like to request a corner with table to run the video clips on my laptop, with not too loud sound, so people can watch it as they go through the exhibition... my co-teacher said "better to put up this video onto the stage as one of the programme for wesak, with bigger impact reaching out to the whole hall audience"
Anyway, the more I think about it, the more excited I'm getting. Totally ignoring the fact that I need to revamp school website, do 80th anniversay commemorative book... get hands dirty with fundraising dinner... get voted in as exco for bgf again...
I think I get motivated by (get involve with) inspiring people. But be watchful... notice there's some ego rising when people praise you, like limkf said "you take very good pictures of people" and he suggested to put that picture I took (at ladakh) as the 1st picture people will see at the website and trigger people to click on it... to read further... and to donate for a cause. Dtk and all agreed! Then he repeated that sentence again to me... I observed that the ego just shot up. Not long later, I realised that I could have replied "thanks to the 50mm lense" or "thanks for tips from peter". I wouldn't have that 50mm lense if not for peter giving it to me. I also know that most good people-emotion shots are taken with that 50mm lense.
Maybe its human nature, they feel proud when they're being praised, and they keep brimming. Oh please... stop it. Come back to the ground, don't float too high until you couldn't touch the earth.
Anyway... moving on... I still need to find time to exercise, don't look so fat on my wedding!

神也是我。鬼也是我。
Too abstract to grasp? I think its when I'm both choleric and phlegmatic at the sametime... when there's the flashes of evil visuals, then there's the awareness of what is bad, and the ability to know what is good... *crapping*
So do you think I'm "angelish devil" or "devilish angel"? *muuaahahahaha....*

Know of such colleague?
There is this guy, quite big size, I don't know who is he, must have been introduced to him before but I don't know how he know that I have a pass. So he just came straight to me to ask to borrow the pass... one day, he borrowed it and after lunch he'd return it to me.
Almost panting, he walked over, dig his shirt pocket and took out the pass...
"aiya sorry its wet ah..."
"nevermind.." (thinking he spilled water on it, I raised my hand and hold it)
"its my sweat ah"

Feel like puking...
What's the point of living in a country when policemen can take order to shoot dead another human? I dunno if I'm more sick that policemen can be so stupid (without wisdom & compassion) or policemen can be so cruel.
Feel like puking....

Lagi yau yeng bridal gown
Ok, this second gown, I think it might be kinda tight for me, maybe its the model's confident strut which made the gown looked very good! Or maybe its the picture that looks good. Just thought the red waist band is unique.... oh my.. both pictures so lacey!! Does this mean I like lacey gown!?!
Another oh my... so simple, sexy-looking, hey no lace and just plain! So what now.. lacey or plain?

Like *jaws dropped* gown...
If I need to feel more secure, I find this tight-fitting piece equally stunning! Notice it might probably cover my flabby tummy eh?! Also V-neck!
Here's another cutting, like off-shoulder still a strap supporting over your shoulder and it's different from conventional bridal gowns you see in local magazines or ss2 bridal studios. I want to try this!

Ok, this is similar story, since its off-shoulder, can cover up abit of my flabby arms, and it looks special and sweet.

Well, here's what I'm thinking rationally how my body will look like, L-size. And its V-neck, with the shoulder strap, no flower / pattern nonsense. So is this it?!

So rude!
My bro & my cousin bros are colour blind but sayang didn't know or he don't remember what I've mentioned before. Anyway, I bought some new clothes, and started bringing out to show, and naturally I just showed my cousin and asked,
"what colour is this?"
(long pause) "don't know"
"guess la!"
"can't tell"
By then sayang looked at me and figured it out that my cousin is colour blind and sayang gave me a stern face "sayang don't ask! its so rude!"
??!?!?!!?!!!????!!!???
Scenario 2:
Late into the night, when mom got back from her puja & folding the clothes in the living room, and I was nearby working on the newsletter on the laptop... then suddenly I told mom
"...wanna pinjam your mat for house-blessing chanting" (then I continue with the laptop)
"why tomorrow you don't need me bring detergent to clean the house ah..."
"got tell already mah.. bring broom, bring pail, bring detergent..."
"har? like that tell? why didn't tell nicely?"
"yesterday you were here, when we discussed about tomorrow's housecleaning, aunty will come first and you all will bring her eat nasi kandar... you were here what!!"
"what!!! don't simply assume! YOU ARE SO RUDE!!!"
??!?!!?!!!??!?!!!!????!!!??!
(verbal fighting went on and on until I forced myself to stop replying...like total ignore)
Anyway, back at Scenario 1, case settled when my dad came to conclusion by directly asking my cousin "are you offended by asking you to guess what colour?" He said no.
As for Scenario 2, I feel its such a waste of energy for my mom to pick on me on such wuliow thing like broom-pail-mop-detergent. Looking at the 'heat' generated from my mom, I also kesian her... no peace for her. While I know very well, the way for my mom to have peace with me, is for me to talk with her very sweetly and gentlely and politely and smilingly > oh geeeehhhhh... I rather get punished to hell for being... tactless & not-so-sweet-to-mom!!
I thing the word should be "crude" not "rude"!

insyaallah all's well, ends well
Since both our parents are 'fine' with the place, since there's another couple who'd put their name for the same date, we just took out the credit card. I wonder if courtesy sake, they should call up the other couple to inquire... I guess in business world, who pay first who get it first right? I'm just imagining that if someone else had booked and paid deposit for the date that we've already booked without courtesy inform us - cham lah!
Potentially we're having as many as 40 tables, if more than that, the banquet hall will be quite crammed. Let's keep your fingers crossed... that everything will turn out "all's well, ends well".

Doh people
i know it is breaking precepts to slander about other people. i wanted to ramble my 'doh' thought inside my mind, whenever i hear 'doh' words uttered.
when we're having exco mtg, towards the end of the mtg, her phone beeped, she abrupted said "oh that's my mother! Curfew curfew!" Then she rushed to go back. Mind you she's already 50+?
Then I imagined, what if I were her -- oh my gawwdd... I can't be having a mom who would still check on me and set a curfew for me when I'm already very big in age?!
I can't even stand simple pointless nagging by my own mom at home, imagine there's even more "caring" / breathing-down-your-neck mom out there?
~*~
Ahh nvm, i was about to write abt another statement uttered that really didn't make sense to me. Its really interesting... how certain people can be so annoying to you. But Dhamma taught us that we have to learn from them, they are your teacher.

...dinner venue hunting update
Now instead of having my sit-down chinese wedding on the same day as my tea-ceremony, we're option for the next day, 24th January, which is a Sunday! Better than not having a nice wedding venue AT ALL right?
Fingers cross that we'll get to book the 2 coolest places in town (that we can still afford insyaallah) ;)
Sshhhh... its a secret!

wooohoooo....
i hope i don't annoy u for repeating myself over and over again - im going to bali for honeymoon! don't care if its gonna be rainy season -- becos airasia travel period is until 31Jan2010, and our wedding date is 23Jan2010. So that's the only week left to take advantage of the 1-day-only-free-seats-up-for-grabs promo!
if it rains, we'll just chill out at the hotel (or villa) can't believe if i'm gonna book any of the beachfront / oceanview villa which is going to burn my bank account. i have a budget to keep up with, that's to spend under rm2k for two of us. possible right?
got a new house and a wedding to stretch our finances... at the end of it, i know it'll all turn out well. don't bother if its the ox year where goat fan-tai-sui, i think the past few years, the goat didn't have 'good' prediction either.
did anybody watch 'bridewars'? well, sayang think im like liv, the impatient bossy girl, while i think i'm mix of both liv and emma. go watch it!
yay CNY is over now :) can start get things done (where relying on other people is concerned)!

The art of giving ~ from whats my point of being
Ok I need to find a way to write, if not for blog, I find it harder to scribble in msword doc. KMH asked me to write something close to my heart... *cham* what I'm all excited now is my wedding! *doh what's with girls and their weddings?! since when I feel like a girl?! well maybe I'm not excited about details like design of the gown or the cut of the ring or the photoshoot at the studio... but I'm excited that I'm even at all getting hitched in spite of being ungirly*
So back to the article *gee.. and i know i'm not a generous person*, I guess I'll write about whats my point of giving and in whatever good intention I may have in my mind, we should give with sincerity or we should have a sincere intention in mind. Sometimes, although we think we're being sincere in giving, somehow we might have subconsciously expect receiver to reciprocate for our good thoughts.
Would you get offended if somebody didn't say thank you after you've given them an angpau? Would you mind if a so-called friend didn't appreciate what you've given to them? Do you expect anything in return when you've faithfully helped somebody?
We've seen all sort of characters, people with different altitudes of sincerity in giving / helping. I must admit, I am one who'd not reached the highest spectrum of being truly sincere in my giving / having good intention towards others. Perhaps I should learn to be mindful, not to be over calculative with matters like 'how much ang pau money you receive from this family, you must give back the same value' or 'a friend treat me to lunch today, I must treat her back another day'.
The more I've been conditioned to think this way, the more insincere in giving I'll be. When I see friends who'd freely donate their money to temples (no matter how little the sum) or friends who'd naturally go forward to pay for the yum-cha / mamak-stall bill, I feel that I have alot more to practise in this art of giving.
Why should I comtemplate 'how much should I donate to the temple?' or 'should I pay for the yum-cha bill?'. In the art of giving, I should wholeheartedly want to donate or give, and to wish that others can benefit from the little amount that I could give.
Perhaps this could be a good new year resolution for me, to put in practise the art of giving. To give with honest sincerity.

...to invite or not to invite
Now comes my mom's maternal family side : which is going to make up the MOST tables for either side of any of me/sayang family, the question "how NOT to invite their children?"
When I say children, I really mean all of them who are younger than me. Some who are in primary school, who are very noisy and just plain no-eye-see. When you put a few of the family togethers, all bring their own young kids, they'll start running around, shouting around, chasing around...
Now we fix it only "Mr. & Mrs..." at the invitation card, they wont get it. One of the richer granduncle will make noise first, saying they're able to give enough angpow money so that you won't rugi, so what's wrong with bringing along his grandchildren?
So if richer granduncle's grandchildren's are all coming, why can't poorer granduncle's grandchildren come along? (you see we don't have any maid at home to look after the kids, no choice have to bring them along, if not how?!?) "why you look down on us?" -- that's the remark that will be repeated again and again.
If rich granduncle, poor granduncle's whole jin-gang family comes, why can't grand aunty's grandchildren come?
Ok let's do the maths, my ahma is #3 amongst her big Wong+Aw siblings. My ah-chor (great grandmother who died when I was 12) had 2 husbands. The first Wong-husband left, leaving behind my ahma, 2 gu-kong & 1 yi-poh surnamed Wong... the second Aw-husband also had a wife who left him... cut long story short, the Wong and Aw family combined and grew up together in a close-knit family in the poor Padang Regas village, not far from Taiping.
All of them are so close to each other, that even until now, when they're already in their 60's, 70's & 6ft-under... whenever there's a gu-kong or yipoh or ahma birthday, the whole clan (including their children & grandchildren) will come. I actually know all of my extended cousins who exist at ah ma's side.
While I've never met any of my mom's paternal side distance cousins, I don't know some of my dad's side distant cousins... but ahma's side is so special. By chinese-family-relationship status, my ahma's side should be least significant... but the fact is they're physically close!
Who's son got 7As... who's daughter got divorced... who got married due to accident... who got scholarship studying in Spore... who's son got ears pierced like gangster... we all know!
My dad is shaking his head visualizing all the naughty kids making alot of noise running up and down. My mom knows its POINTLESS to limit to "Mr & Mrs only", due to certain family who'll STILL bring their small children along.
...like what KNS said "it may be your wedding, but definitely not your dinner!"
My dad is agreeing to NO SHARKSFIN SOUP. My dad is cool enough to think why not combine chinese and indian food in the menu? *he thinks so many chinese dish boring la*
Dad is thinking, if the dinner is not held during the school holidays, maybe those far-away relatives will not come. If it's held on Sundays, maybe those naughty kids who'll have school on Monday will not come... dad got a point :P

...when your keys are locked inside - what would you do?

Poor thing... you know, it's just amazing what special people can do. Any normal person would have just taken a card to slide through the side of the knob to try to unlock it, like what a thief would do. In fact me and my collegemate did that when we forgot to bring our keys out. Why could she karate kick to destroy her door?! I feel paiseh for having to rush her, that's how she left her keys behind when try to meet me in a rush. Special people have special methods of solving problems. They're also very sensitive towards the physical surrounding.
Infact when we were having dinner at a big hawker-stalls food court in Penang, I wanted to go to the toilet, I wrote it on paper that I wanted to go to toilet, she wanted to go too.. we stood up, I gestured that I don't know where is the toilet, she turned her one half a round, and she SAW it! The toilet sign was so distant away...
Her arms must be painful, having being injured... but you'll never know if she's in pain. We communicate through messaging on hp (without sending but showing) or writing on paper. I actually got dizzy when I was 'communicating' with her while driving on unfamiliar roads! *panadol rescued*

...to spill the beans
Our ROM > 19.09.2009
Our wedding dinner > still pending sg buloh cikgu to revert back, but we hope its... 09.01.10
Easy to remember right?
First thing first, we must get our house key. Start renovating. By end of March, I should get confirmed by my bank, so I can apply for staff reno-loan.
Anyway, since the ancestor tablet is at sayang's setapak hse, so for the traditional chinese keluar-masuk pintu, will be from Setapak to my hse in PJ back to Setapak. Then back to our new house (with no ancestor tablet yet).
Sayang was thinking of an unusual style for the ji-muis and heng-dais, shhhh my close friends would have known it by now. Not sure how will it work, or how my parents will faint... we'll see.
And sayang doesn't fancy those western-white gown... for me, I don't drool over it, whatever it is, has to fit and match my body size... and I do think wearing the chinese-kwa would be more authentic and culturally significant. And its long sleeve, so can cover my fat flabby arms! *wakakkakaaz...*
Hmmm... what else can I share, we're planning for a pre-wedding shoot and we've not visited any bridal studio and we don't plan to walk into any one! *Doh... sometimes I think it's cool having a meijoonized personality and marrying another one-of-a-kind sayang. We both dread having our pictures taken in a studio! Very fortunate that sayang has a cousin who's a professional wedding photographer! And you bet, its gonna be outdoor shoot! *ok ok I know many other couples who'd had pre-wedding shoot outdoor, esp the beach*
Now comes the dinner, this one it's not gonna be easy, sayang is really hoping to have it simple. By simple he means small. At the back of my mind, me being only daugther, me being first grandchild, me being first in both side of my family to get married... you think my parents can accommodate to a small wedding?! Wakakkakaz... anyway, that's where we'll have 2 receptions!
One very chinesey, one not typical. Chinese dinner most likely at Ming Room @ BSC that can only fit 22 tables maximum. *everybody pray for me that Ming Room will be available for us for our chosen date! Problem I don't have the date YET. The last I checked, they're going for renovation ready in June, so all booking can only be made after June!*
For the other more casual for friends punya dinner - we're looking at some cool places like Rahsia? Passion Road (we've check it out lotsa of mosquito lah!!)... You know of any cool places like that in the city or in PJ? Do you think buffet or served-dinner is better for a casual romantic wedding dinner with mostly friends as guests?
OK enough with spilling out the beans.
At the end of the day, there's alot of give and take. What I want, what he wants. How to compromise each other... I guess we'll take a whole life time to practise it.
Teacher advised: He is 大男人。我是大女人。So in order to sustain a harmonious relationship, we gotta remember 要配合, 要包容 & 要善解。

Pre-CNY Doh
I'm being numb listening to mom nag about everything the under the sun. To her she's just giving her opinion, its not complaining. To the listener - that's me - she's nagging / complaining / saying negatively.
So how it got me into a little mess? Aunty called her to tumpang put vegetarian stuff in the fridge. Infact I shouldn't say tumpang, because I have no idea that aunty is actually giving my mom the stuff as gift and its supposed to be put in the freezer. So my mom very boldly complained that there is NO SPACE in the freezer. She didn't mention anything about aunty GIVING us the stuff, which is meant to be kept in the freezer. And mom forgot to go pick it up from aunty house, and we all reached home. It's so late... while mom was bathing, aunty called to ask when are we coming to pick up the stuff to put in the freezer... I just repeated exactly what my mom told me "freezer got no space".
To which she said "you come take lah, my houes got no freezer.." which I don't believe and well I don't wanna drive out at 12.15am alone. Minutes later, aunty's husband came... I'm actually surprise aunty manage to get her husband to do things for her, this uncle usually shoot my aunty for being 'stupid'.
Anyway, uncle didn't utter a word standing outside my house, I didn't know it was uncle, because there's 2 cousins who usually come home very late at night not uttering a word when they come in. I turned my head, saw uncle... with a big packet of stuff, I said "why bring over? there's no space in the freezer!"
And I dunno why he didn't utter a word and left. Hmmm.... moments later, aunty called to speak to my mom to tell how angry uncle was -- that I'm so rude! That I didn't even say Thank You! That inspite of calling myself a Buddhist, I didn't even say Thank You!
....altogether now "DOOOHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
That was supposed to be a CNY gift? CHiiiiiiuuuuuuuu.... why would my mom NOT graciously accept people's gift instead complain about our freezer no space. DOH! I just repeated exactly what my mom said to my aunty & uncle, and now I'm being labelled so rude and a Buddhist who don't know how to say thank you. When I tried explain to mom that I didn't know the stuff is for us, not merely tumpang... then she cleverly imply that's because I simply assume things / getsmart.
Isshh... anyway, not the first time I'm having this sort of pre-CNY complication with my mom.
The thing I fear most is how I'm resemble her! Oh geeeeeee... esp when I'm driving and she's telling me where to turn (not following the sign). I somehow remembered how sayang got mad when I tried to direct him where to turn when he's behind the wheel. The pathetic part is, when I said "I'm following the sign" and she said "1U you know lah, but this place I know, I ask u to turn there..." Then I sarcasticly replied "Yes, I'm very blur wan you dunno meh" She counter back "but you always talk like you getsmart!"

No wonder my dad has always remained SILENT. Just don't bother open mouth.

The small world at a small wedding
Why? Cos I've not been there and I heard quite abit about it... and its something different, not chinese 9-course sit-down dinner you know. Anyway, so there I was at this bungalow surrounded by lush green trees.... fantastic breeding ground for MOSQUITOES!
I thought garden - buffet wedding at a cool mansion with great ambience would be something to look forward to... but the mosquitoes is really sad case. You know I have terrible legs... I cannot stand itches, I just scratch auto-mode when I there's itch.. and it really itches.
~*~
Anyway, this story is about a small world. First I saw this girl standing there... usual of me, I don't care, I glance away. BUT I paused my mind -- she looked familiar, I've met her before -- think she must have heard me saying that to myself, as she walked nearer to me, she looked at me, I looked at her -- smdj!
Gee... if she didn't become SOOOO ultra thin I wouldn't have doubt my senses lah! I thought we were in the same class, but I remember we were not in same class... but we're supposed to know each other lah. Then we try to connect back who we still keep in touch with from school.
So she's the cousin of the bride, who is sayang's melaka friend.
~*~
Yada yada yada... at the long fancy dinner table, since there were empty seat infront of us, this guy walked over to ask if the seat is taken, no its not, so he sat... (as he was walking over, I was already talking to myself, where he look so familiar, facebook fella ke) then he introduced himself as TJ (hmm.. not james ooi ah...) Then he explained he's the bride's friend from UM.
Ahah! My upm coursemate's brother! Eh when I attended my coursemate's wedding recently, the bro was sitting in the same table as me at the opposite end of the table leh! Fuiyoh... like that also can... wedding do is like a place where you might meet who and who, so and so who's connected to so and so...
At some point I explained to TJ about sayang being floral designer who did the flowers for his sister's wedding. When the bride was chatting with TJ, she intro sayang as her florist -- TJ said yeah its a small world munyee also did the flowers for his sister!
~*~
Anyway, the part about 'small wedding'... agree with sayang, there's not enough crowd to make up the mood / atmosphere. Or maybe its the place? maybe its the spicy-range of food? Maybe I'm lazy to walk up and down to get food & to socialize since the chair is so bulky.
Next we'll go scout Rahsia to see if its any better... Shhhh its a rahsia.

Ox Year...
~*~
I read about all the bad luck stuff for goat for the year of Ox... If I listen to it, then it might be true. But if I maintain my positive outlook, and aspire for good things to happen, not leaving it all by chance, be assertive and just continue aspire!

VIRGO SHEEP
Overly fussy with high expectations, these Sheep often expect too much of themselves and of others.
...sayang nod his head to this statement! Maybe I don't realise it myself esp when things don't go the way I want... now I have an excuse to pacify myself on why sometimes things just don't meet my expectation -- because I'm a Virgo Sheep!

Happy New Year!
Van driver say he got no money.. he rather go make police report, since I've gone through the process before, no problem. Have to make report lah, if wanna claim from insurance company.
Anyway... I didn't get to meet who I wanted to meet, couldn't get the answer that I wanted to get yet. What to do?!??!!?!?!?!! Sometimes I see it as my subconscious mind playing tricks on me... many a times when I was driving, I'd suddenly think of accident or the car behind duno how to brake in time. Once you send out the 'thought' it will most likely happen.
Also for the meet-up that I wanted it to happen but didn't happen, I also had doubts that it might not happen due to some-reason-that-I-can't-tell.
What a wonderful start for the new year... I just feel so zombie the whole day... I'm also not excited about going to work tomorrow (FRIDAY?!!) iissh... (usually I look forward to going to work).
What's my wish for the new year?!?!
Breath properly.
