Last night, I was interrogated by my blur technical boss, on why I was being asked not to go back to work in C**, as informed by brandz.
What stunt is C** trying to pull off?! So here I am at C** again, not sure where I should be, but I know I have work to do in C** and yes, I got my official offer letter from C**.
The trick here is not to let brandz know what I'm up to.
Actually what is there to be afraid of? If I dont get salary by present company for March, I should be covered by C**. Either way, my job is the same. Position is the same.
Everybody trying to be stuntman... really wish I could pull this off really for the last time, no strings attached.
Previously: i started this blog in my early 20's... My life is complete now with 2 kids, a son and a daughter. I associate myself being a mother after getting pregnant.

guilty..not guilty..guilty..not guilty..
I'm listening to Jamie Collum... but I'm so guilty... I didn't get the CD... I enjoy music... but I couldn't afford to buy...
I'm listening to the same nice songs over and over again, and still not tired of listening to it! Why dont I just support the music by buying the original CD?! Gosh.. what kinda world am I living in..
Let me count how many CD's I've bought... ermm.. yeah.. just one "Joey Mcintyre - Stay The Same". Where is it now? I can't tell.. somewhere near the TV probably.. of course have already ripped it, so what's the point of "buying a CD" for RM40++ and then never use it ever again after one time ripping.
Say, with the compilation of songs that I have (plus what my cousins have), if I were to get the original CDs for the album, then I must be REALLY rich?!! Then after buying the many CDs with the plastic CD cover, what am I gonna do with it.. collect dust.
Buying books.. well, still not a great reader, but just because the government say buying books, pay lesser tax... so ok, every bookfair I go and buy a book, and then what.. collect dust after finish reading it?!
There is a huge bookshelf filled with really old books, that nobody will ever read them again.. from the yesteryears, my uncle's generation.. what can I do with it?! My uncle moved out long ago, leaving behind all these old books. Sell them?! Who will buy!?!
American Idol and FRIENDS!! My life is so predictable.. everyday I get home, turn on Channel 70.. Imagine my parents are as Simonized as they can be... my cousin already guessed who's my fave male Idol contestant... and I've picked my favourite, PARIS!! :D The first audition, she sang 2 incredible songs... just blow you away man...
I'm really looking forward to next week... really wish time would pass faster... I'd get my 2nd offer letter, I'd get to know who's my employer for March, I'll start meeting the INCOVAR gang again, I'll send newsletter for printing, I'll have a new book to read..

To tell or not to tell
You know there's quite a situation that I'm facing, yet I dont have proof and I'm just a small fry in this big fish world. I've heard that people get caught for blogging about their company scoop.
Try using labels?! Well if u're close to me, u'll know what brand I'm specialised in, call it brandz.
The company who headhunted for me last year because of my knowledge in brandz is XO. And I have a major problem with only 2 managers in XO, one is yong-sui and one is a dog.
From the beginning they have been secretive about many things, like why I dont have a real office, who is the HR, who are the partner / the real boss. These 2 jokers will meet up with me in Starbucks or Coffeebean to discuss about work etc. As time passes, there's 2 new staff to join me as 'seniors', found out they're as demotivated as me eventhough I've never worked with them.
Back to brandz, they have a contract with my present client C**, and they're paying a hefty large sum of $ brandz for my service, as per contract. I discovered this from my old friend.
So C** should rather pay me instead, right?
The culprit here is the sales guy of brandz, who has a share in my company XO.
Ahha! Now it made sense, why XO being such shitty as they are, is able to get brandz support / contract etc even for potential overseas projects.
So my old friend is warning me not to tell ANYONE about this, as we all have no prove. As I share my story with my friend in US, doesn't seem surprised too... this is how the world is.
During my face-off with XO managers, I continue pretending I dont know their shit story, and they continue pretending to be angels... He asked who's my new company, I didn't tell but I know they already know. Cos I told the asistant sales guy of brandz to help me to get out of this shit, and he too was "too kind" with me. He was giving me warning about the 'concerns' of switching job between brandz-partner-company. Like I care...
Ultimately, I should not have issue joining any brandz-partner-company, as brandz will still benefit from all their partners.. so what's the REAL concern? Isn't it evidently clear now what my friend said is true, about brandz sales-guy.
My new tricky 'situation' is C** is ending brandz contract a month EARLIER, while I initially thought I'll work under brandz until end of contract. And C** is not willing to lose me even for a month, meaning I had to "re-resign" from my company XO, asking for EARLIER termination date. C** ask me to pay them if I have to... or its up to me to re-negotiate.
To C**, I raise my hand and give you my claps... u're the winner of this shit..
To N**, I'm so sorry they're innocent but I'm punishing them for nothing...
To XO, I feel so demotivate & disappointed with them, words cannot describe...
To brandz, I'm warning you... u dun wanna make ur big brand look bad if you're ever caught offguard!
At the bottom of this, C** called my referee, my 1st manager that I truly respect... wow nice words for me!! :D C** ask "how did he know u're religious girl?!"... doh back in Ac* I was nickedname "the holy one".
To Buddha, pray for me for a smooth transition!

My Karma?!
Today I went in to a short meeting with my client C**.
Today I handed in my new offer letter back to the HR in N**.
C** wants to settle this ding-dong-shit once and for all, they want to give me offer letter by this week.
If I get a new offer, how the hell am I going to 'resign' in the other new job that I've not started working for?!
You tell me.. I'm like a ball...

The face off with my boss
Venue : Starbucks
Time : 9am
People : me, the technical boss & the manager.
Cannot run away question asked : Why you wanna leave?
- got better offer
Any other reasons?
- do you really wanna know?!
Yes, of course! We wont know if you dont tell.
- some things, dont tell you should know.
.. anyway, its totally boring. I got the whole picture cleared, my strategy is not to leave by having a war or to make enemy. I guess its inevitable to look for a win-win-win situation, whereby my dad may not really grasp (he's from public sector, always getting on my nerves for pushing me to scold my boss, yeah he can do that).
... by compromising, I suggested to still help them what they need. They took the ball back to their court and say they wont 'ask for compensation' for releasing me early if I would still continue help them after my last day. For 1/2 month more, i.e. coming to work on Saturdays. (1/2 month is only 2 Saturdays la).
... this is how I play my game. Remember in ELC camp when I was a participant, we had a 'war' game held in the jungle held at night, (somewhat like paintball but no marker just using the hand to throw the pallets), there were 6 or 8 teams I forgot.. the end game is for the Captain of the Pirates to be hit, there were many other pirates (to attack us) too but the combination of all 8 teams still outnumber the total pirates.
The game couldn't even after playing for many hours!! All the leader of each team couldn't come any strategy / alliance. I was probably the one suggestin we ALL cover each other, we ALL pakat together, and we ALL go all out to attack the ONE PIRATE. Then while wasting time discussion with so many other group leaders, we had no conclusion. One other guy told me that I remembered so well, "mj nobody will think like you, to use the diplomatic way. we just cannot form such an alliance!"
So teams went on seperate ways, probably some 2 other teams worked together.. and we were slowing 'dying' off. Yeah I was dead early in the game... but in the end the Pirates won. The facilitator (who were the pirates) were disappointed with us not able to win.
Why shouldn't we be diplomatic?! Why make enemy?! Why make things so difficult, if only we all could work together, to achieve the shared/common goals. Maybe its just my style, u scratch my back, i scratch ur back.
In the midst of settling job transfer, and always having business planning thoughts in my brain, I wonder how 'honest' can I / will I be. It's already so evident in a crazy game like paintball, where there are rules to follow. But it's so hard to stick to it 100%. We get so excited easily, even when we're shot / dead, we pretend we're not dead. I know I'm not perfect, I too was tempted to cheat. And cheated.
I see businessmen cheats, I wonder how to do a business where by I dont have to cheat. Like pitching sales, how will I close more and more sales if I didn't oversell it?! My bro is one who doesn't mind overselling, and he say that's how he do sales. If he dont lie how can people buy?

~What a Difference a Day Made~
~*~ What a difference a day made, twenty four little hours,
Brought the sun and the flowers where there used to be rain.
My yesterday was blue, dear, today I'm part of you, dear,
My lonely nights are through dear, since you said you were mine.
What a difference a day made, there's a rainbow before me,
Skies above can't be stormy since that moment of bliss, that thrilling kiss,
It's heaven when you find romance on your menu,
What a difference a day made and the difference is you. ~*~
I think the wording to this song is cool. Still trying to get the Jamie Collum version..
Today, just couple of hours ago, online I saw a comrade who gave me the most vital clue as to what my actual current situation is like. I dont think I can write this down, its business / corporate matter. I dont know why I have to hide about the stuff that I hear, probably may not be the truth, but if it is, it all makes sense!
You know how when you're trying to solve the addmath questions in school, and you just couldn't solve it... until when you finally found the answer!!! That's like *aaaaaaaaaahhhh... sodeska! This evening I'm feeling like this.
In the afternoon, before I dare to resign I ask my client the final time if they're going to take me. No they're not. So I've been taken for a LONNNGGGG ride again, this time no hards feeling. I enjoyed my lonnnnggg stay here at client's base making friends with fishes swimming in other countries, learning abit of Korean, Japnese, Urdu, improving my Chinese... The thought of leaving this position could bring tears in my eyes! No crying in the office puh-leeassee...
This morning, first thing I got up, went for the 2nd interview with the malay company, got the offer but I couldn't negotiate for anything better, still better than current state. Just so hard to explain why I'm caught up in this shitty-cannot-explain position I'm in. Seeing positivity in negativity, and seeing negativity in positivity. Every place, eveything, every company is not perfect.
Great lessons I've learnt from work so far :: CYA, how to defend taichi master, how to see the bigger picture, how to let go.
Attachment! Letting go and walking out from the comfort zone is never gonna be easy for me.
To my boss... go fly kite!

Why do I treat life like a gamble?
Is it because I'm too 'chinchai'... anything goes. Somebody said, to consider accepting a new job offer, I should think about whether I'll be happy there. Then I was wondering, my strenght is I am adaptable to new environment, but of course if people keep smoking around me I'll choke to death. Also, I feel happiness is not factored externally, I believe my happiness is what I can be contented with what I have & when I can be proud of who I am.
Last night show on new FRIENDS, saw Monica who was trying to beat the 'last year' me, where she's going to compete between 'me' and 'myself'. Oh my god, I thought I am as crazy as Phoebe, (though I like Rachael's hair the most), but I was alot like Monica for yday's show! Her veins were showing when she got mad, and she's so obsessed of being 'better' or atleast to prove to herself she is 'better'. Oh my god... think my circle of friends would be scared of me the way joey, rachael, ross and phoebe were afraid of monica!
I will always remember clearly, the great movie Initial D, where the prostitute gf of TokHoi told him during one of their lakeside stroll.. "you have to find something that belongs to your world, and after you've found that something belonging to your own world, then life would be meaningful."
That message should be said to all youths of today who get so clueless or choked up with life. I know I have roughly sorted out what I want, just a problem of first getting the vehicle before I can start moving. There are many ways to get through a journey, but it would be good to smell the beautiful flowers along the path, enjoy the bright sunny weather, bring along my camera to snap nice pictures wherever I may be, until I've reached my destination.
Oh great, now the destination is not the point then. As the journey is more important than the destination. So that's how I'll be... live life.

Hmm.. why lama tak blog?
How can anybody keep up blogging everyday?! Just like how can anybody keep writing everything? Well if I wanna become a writer then maybe I can... so maybe I'm not that a power writer, its kinda wuliow to keep writing everything down.. esp when nothing has really happened in your life, and you're thinking of going for meditation retreat (atleast 1 time) to attain enlightenment and disappear from this *suffering* kononnya world.
So why the not-too-long-absence in my story telling? Err... *thinking* I guess its the Integrity Desktop installed on the desktop at work (standard software that I didn't install until spotcheck day), then after that gmail also cannot masuk, fotopages also cannot access.. basically I can 'view' blogs and fotopages, but I just cudn't bypass the cookie/privacy setting crap. So i'll be keying in my id-pw for blogspot forever, still the browser wouldn't recognise it.
Or maybe somebody saw me doing these stuff, and complained to somebody, and then got my ip blocked for certain websites. No that's too wuliow.
Complain... my teamlead at work gently reminded me to beware of people using the common printer behind of me who could see clearly what I'm doing. Alright.. so people are spying in the office?! Dohhhhh.... I told my teamlead honestly, sometimes I really have nothing to do... she said she's fine with it. We know how to cover each other.
I guess what my teamlead didn't know was, the complain abt her team being 'too free' is the im-pretty-boy sitting infront of my cubicle. Take this, my schoolmate cum lunchmate working in the same building is married to a server team guy who sits few cubicles away with the entire noisy server team. Ahh! She told me that her husband told her that my teammate is always SLEEPING at about 10am after checking in to office late. I smiled.
Yes, I dont think my teamlead sitting beside me will ever know what's happening around her, she hardly talks nor walk around.
Today there was a war between all the commanders and my team's commander is on EL. Doh... the taichi playing is making our team look really bad without defender. But its kinda shitty to find the scapegoat when a server crashed than to find the best solution to rebuild it!
The server crashed is in Shanghai, and with all the 'process' in place, and when something like this happened for the 1st time, we see that 'process' is not perfect! Humans have to use the brain to cover the missing link of the 'process'.
So in the end, the poor field service engineer in Shanghai come pm me to see.. just to 'san' (complain) that he knew nothing about what's happening but he had to rebuild the server when he's not trained / experienced to do it. I was telling him I wished I would be there at the datacentre doing that hands-on job messing around with the architecture stuff. He just felt pissed off with the 'war' going on between Msian Queen & Sporean King, when the solider in China becomes the victim :P haha..
There is a common joke among my team when referring to SG people... they're just so difficult! Why do they talk like they're more supreme. Even talking to client-user non-IT people, but from SG... dun believe me call somebody from Thailand or Korea.. or even Japan.. they're really nice most of the time.
Matsalleh, if they're working in China or Japan.. they sounded really nice and humble too, although they're probably managers or VIP. But call somebody sitting in the office in AUS/NZ... dunno why the phoneline suddenly gets very clear. The voice I hear is very prominently loud!
Why am I writing such boring story... I dunno... trying to make myself sleep. 2nd interview tomorrow with the same company i went this morning, which I knew wont be too hard, cos I knew the people there. Yeah the SI company that I was dealing with in my 1st job, although a completely malay company... aiyoh, i was telling myself, I've had the WORST kinda of employer, nothing / nobody can beat my present employer.
Yeah... getting back to mixing with malays... opportunity to continue my quest in understanding the true nature of my country.

CNY story.. con't
Where was I? First daY?? Actually everything went great, just that after those great moment have passed, I'd eventually forget about it.
Like how I visited my 2 cousins who came back from England on compassionate leave to visit their very frail grandfather. I guess we're all expecting a funeral pretty soon, but I guess it's not a good thought to looking forward to a funeral during CNY esp... but I'm too hard a person most of the time. Granduncle is really sick, what can we all do? Just keep radiating Metta... should I teach all my distant relatives what to do? Well, my mom is good at that. Atleast for this family, nobody is tussling over a body, unlike some other relatives I know of. Yeah, last minute deathbed conversion is the norm amongst some really fanatics Christians, if only you really see it with your own eyes how idiotic deathbed conversion can be to me.
Whatelse, I met up with fellow Incovarian in Taiping! Guess what... doesn't come as a big surprise, as I knew how small the world is. My grandma is PL's mom's friend. Oh boy, she is sooo talkative! They gave me a token of angpow for my short visit, although my aunt sent me to Kg. Boyan, I had no problem going back as the aunty was sooo excited about knowing how I am connected... all the way the aunty guided the driver to my grandma house, and came in for a short hello.
Oh well, I'm not sure if I should be saying this out loud, but my grandma house is linked to gambling :P i'm wondering myself, which Chinese family do not gamble during CNY?! Even I placed my bets... lost alot in BM with my monkey & dog cousins.. but won back from my rooster grandma!! haha... no guilt, after that session we went on supper on me.
Back home from Taiping... even 3.5 hour drive (ya me.. i drove), after dinner.. another round. Thought my aunts how to play chor dai di, then played ngou abit before my uncle came and he became banker for blackjack. Errr.. at first won abit, then lost abit more... then i stopped. Actually I'm quite reluctant to part away with money... so gambling is very 'susah' for me.
The calm serene scenary is Taiping is always nice and peaceful. Saw lotsa fireworks atnight there... unlike the quiet new year in my city-hometown. Oh ya, I get to ride on the small bmx bike, only while in Taiping I get to just ride freely without minding about being knocked down by cars. Once I was cycling while trying to balance myself with one hand holding the camera... not stunt show, i just havent acquired the skill of cyclying handsfree!
Lotsa dogs to help usher in for this new year... we brought bobo along, my other cousin brought their kiki along to Taiping. Then we brought bobo further up north to BM to visit my aunt with a huge black dog Mambo. Geli... Mambo is soooo big size, I'm scared of going near it... they let Mambo in the house just like part of the family too!!! Aiskks...
Still havent visited quite alot of usual people to visit... going back to office today when more than half the staff is on leave is like really showing off! But I know what's important... when there is work to be done, I'll come back to complete it. But I get complained that I'm too free at other times... very d'oh. That's the nature of my job mah...
Aabubbaa my penpal finally got back to work after his month long wedding/honeymoon break. I think he enjoyed Malaysia, except probably the heat. Waiting for him to share his pic..

My sick boss
Actually my CNY break has been nothing but great! Sort of like a cool break with nothing to care about, I was even without a computer/internet for 3 days. Had so much to talk / write about but this email I must show you, how idiotic it seems to me. I've just finished the employee-motivation booklet titled "Fish" and if ONLY my idiotic boss knew how to apply any of the 4 great lessons taught in the book!
1. Choose your Attitude
2. Play
3. Make someone's day
4. Be Present
If you could make any common sense out of what my boss could email this out to us prior to the long holiday, which I only checked it after the holiday! (So pointless to me now).

Importance: High
Dear All
in view of the above festivals, our company will be closed from
- 28th Jan 2006 ~ 1st Feb ( for those project based in Selangor & resume work on 2nd Feb 2006 )
- 28th Jan 2006 ~ 2nd Feb ( for those project based in KL & resume work on 3rd Feb 2006 )
Also note that company will grant everyone FREE One (1) Day leave for 28th Jan 2006. (which is a Saturday d'oh!! Are we suppose to work on Saturday anyway?!) However, we need the strong support & commitment from all our technical team members :-
- to provide help & support to anyone of your technical team members ( details emergency schedule refer to your superior if any )
IN CASE any unforseen technical support issue arise in any of the project site as most of our project sites are critical & important.
On teamwork concern:
- In case any of the technical support member who do not help when being ask by your superior will consider unpaid leave on that day (28/1/06) and will be recorded low in performance & poor in teamwork. (what the ****!! I just dun understand how a boss can speak in such pathetic manner to his own staff, this is like throwing banana skin at your face, telling you to blame yourself if you skid / fell on the banana skin)
Happy Chinese New Year !
