Feel like puking...

Quick update? Hmm... so many thing happened, basically at RPK's blog. I'm feeling very sick reading how people aka humans can get murdered brutally.... by the police?! Still trying hard to stomach it... I feel like going on a peaceful vigil for feeling aghast with heartless Malaysian police squad. I ask myself, if I can bring myself to send metta to these people... its so hard.

What's the point of living in a country when policemen can take order to shoot dead another human? I dunno if I'm more sick that policemen can be so stupid (without wisdom & compassion) or policemen can be so cruel.

Feel like puking....

Lagi yau yeng bridal gown

If the previous post bridal gown samples were taken from http://www.onewed.com/ (which was cool enough), then these are from http://www.davidsbridal.com/, and I totally love the first one - the mOST out of ALL the gown pictures I've seen on the net so far :D Maybe its her hair?! :P
Ok, this second gown, I think it might be kinda tight for me, maybe its the model's confident strut which made the gown looked very good! Or maybe its the picture that looks good. Just thought the red waist band is unique.... oh my.. both pictures so lacey!! Does this mean I like lacey gown!?!

Another oh my... so simple, sexy-looking, hey no lace and just plain! So what now.. lacey or plain?

Like *jaws dropped* gown...

I like this alot! So simple! Of course the model is really slim with nice hair, but I think the V-neck, not totally bare-shoulder... just worried if its too lose & reveal too much cleavage. *I wish not to tie my hair up in a gown*
If I need to feel more secure, I find this tight-fitting piece equally stunning! Notice it might probably cover my flabby tummy eh?! Also V-neck!

Here's another cutting, like off-shoulder still a strap supporting over your shoulder and it's different from conventional bridal gowns you see in local magazines or ss2 bridal studios. I want to try this!
Ok, this is similar story, since its off-shoulder, can cover up abit of my flabby arms, and it looks special and sweet.

Well, here's what I'm thinking rationally how my body will look like, L-size. And its V-neck, with the shoulder strap, no flower / pattern nonsense. So is this it?!

So rude!

Scenario 1:
My bro & my cousin bros are colour blind but sayang didn't know or he don't remember what I've mentioned before. Anyway, I bought some new clothes, and started bringing out to show, and naturally I just showed my cousin and asked,
"what colour is this?"
(long pause) "don't know"
"guess la!"
"can't tell"
By then sayang looked at me and figured it out that my cousin is colour blind and sayang gave me a stern face "sayang don't ask! its so rude!"
??!?!?!!?!!!????!!!???

Scenario 2:
Late into the night, when mom got back from her puja & folding the clothes in the living room, and I was nearby working on the newsletter on the laptop... then suddenly I told mom
"...wanna pinjam your mat for house-blessing chanting" (then I continue with the laptop)
"why tomorrow you don't need me bring detergent to clean the house ah..."
"got tell already mah.. bring broom, bring pail, bring detergent..."
"har? like that tell? why didn't tell nicely?"
"yesterday you were here, when we discussed about tomorrow's housecleaning, aunty will come first and you all will bring her eat nasi kandar... you were here what!!"
"what!!! don't simply assume! YOU ARE SO RUDE!!!"
??!?!!?!!!??!?!!!!????!!!??!
(verbal fighting went on and on until I forced myself to stop replying...like total ignore)

Anyway, back at Scenario 1, case settled when my dad came to conclusion by directly asking my cousin "are you offended by asking you to guess what colour?" He said no.
As for Scenario 2, I feel its such a waste of energy for my mom to pick on me on such wuliow thing like broom-pail-mop-detergent. Looking at the 'heat' generated from my mom, I also kesian her... no peace for her. While I know very well, the way for my mom to have peace with me, is for me to talk with her very sweetly and gentlely and politely and smilingly > oh geeeehhhhh... I rather get punished to hell for being... tactless & not-so-sweet-to-mom!!

I thing the word should be "crude" not "rude"!

insyaallah all's well, ends well

Deposit RM3k swiped! We had table talk at Tai Thong Imperial Garden, at a very cozy nice room, with attached washroom... basically we like the 'interior design' of the place, with the turquoise wall and the lotus-design lamp dangling from the ceiling.

Since both our parents are 'fine' with the place, since there's another couple who'd put their name for the same date, we just took out the credit card. I wonder if courtesy sake, they should call up the other couple to inquire... I guess in business world, who pay first who get it first right? I'm just imagining that if someone else had booked and paid deposit for the date that we've already booked without courtesy inform us - cham lah!

Potentially we're having as many as 40 tables, if more than that, the banquet hall will be quite crammed. Let's keep your fingers crossed... that everything will turn out "all's well, ends well".

Doh people

i know it is breaking precepts to slander about other people. i wanted to ramble my 'doh' thought inside my mind, whenever i hear 'doh' words uttered.

when we're having exco mtg, towards the end of the mtg, her phone beeped, she abrupted said "oh that's my mother! Curfew curfew!" Then she rushed to go back. Mind you she's already 50+?

Then I imagined, what if I were her -- oh my gawwdd... I can't be having a mom who would still check on me and set a curfew for me when I'm already very big in age?!

I can't even stand simple pointless nagging by my own mom at home, imagine there's even more "caring" / breathing-down-your-neck mom out there?

~*~

Ahh nvm, i was about to write abt another statement uttered that really didn't make sense to me. Its really interesting... how certain people can be so annoying to you. But Dhamma taught us that we have to learn from them, they are your teacher.

...dinner venue hunting update

It's definitely crazy. 23rd January 2010 is a very good date that's why its already booked at so many places! I'm now thinking, these people who'd book their venue so early in advance, must have already planned it way way way in advance!

Now instead of having my sit-down chinese wedding on the same day as my tea-ceremony, we're option for the next day, 24th January, which is a Sunday! Better than not having a nice wedding venue AT ALL right?

Fingers cross that we'll get to book the 2 coolest places in town (that we can still afford insyaallah) ;)

Sshhhh... its a secret!

wooohoooo....

oh my gawwwdddd... i booked my free flights to bali! been a long time since i last booked a flight ok ok, i remembered i went to ladakh not long ago but that was all 'arranged / booked' by other people for me. you know the fun part about travelling or organising something, is the 'planning'! i am so drooling all over gawking at the beautiful villa pictures.

i hope i don't annoy u for repeating myself over and over again - im going to bali for honeymoon! don't care if its gonna be rainy season -- becos airasia travel period is until 31Jan2010, and our wedding date is 23Jan2010. So that's the only week left to take advantage of the 1-day-only-free-seats-up-for-grabs promo!

if it rains, we'll just chill out at the hotel (or villa) can't believe if i'm gonna book any of the beachfront / oceanview villa which is going to burn my bank account. i have a budget to keep up with, that's to spend under rm2k for two of us. possible right?

got a new house and a wedding to stretch our finances... at the end of it, i know it'll all turn out well. don't bother if its the ox year where goat fan-tai-sui, i think the past few years, the goat didn't have 'good' prediction either.

did anybody watch 'bridewars'? well, sayang think im like liv, the impatient bossy girl, while i think i'm mix of both liv and emma. go watch it!

yay CNY is over now :) can start get things done (where relying on other people is concerned)!

The art of giving ~ from whats my point of being

I've been asked to write an article for their Buddhist society magazine, the topic given "Ang Pau : The Art of Giving".

Ok I need to find a way to write, if not for blog, I find it harder to scribble in msword doc. KMH asked me to write something close to my heart... *cham* what I'm all excited now is my wedding! *doh what's with girls and their weddings?! since when I feel like a girl?! well maybe I'm not excited about details like design of the gown or the cut of the ring or the photoshoot at the studio... but I'm excited that I'm even at all getting hitched in spite of being ungirly*

So back to the article *gee.. and i know i'm not a generous person*, I guess I'll write about whats my point of giving and in whatever good intention I may have in my mind, we should give with sincerity or we should have a sincere intention in mind. Sometimes, although we think we're being sincere in giving, somehow we might have subconsciously expect receiver to reciprocate for our good thoughts.

Would you get offended if somebody didn't say thank you after you've given them an angpau? Would you mind if a so-called friend didn't appreciate what you've given to them? Do you expect anything in return when you've faithfully helped somebody?

We've seen all sort of characters, people with different altitudes of sincerity in giving / helping. I must admit, I am one who'd not reached the highest spectrum of being truly sincere in my giving / having good intention towards others. Perhaps I should learn to be mindful, not to be over calculative with matters like 'how much ang pau money you receive from this family, you must give back the same value' or 'a friend treat me to lunch today, I must treat her back another day'.

The more I've been conditioned to think this way, the more insincere in giving I'll be. When I see friends who'd freely donate their money to temples (no matter how little the sum) or friends who'd naturally go forward to pay for the yum-cha / mamak-stall bill, I feel that I have alot more to practise in this art of giving.

Why should I comtemplate 'how much should I donate to the temple?' or 'should I pay for the yum-cha bill?'. In the art of giving, I should wholeheartedly want to donate or give, and to wish that others can benefit from the little amount that I could give.

Perhaps this could be a good new year resolution for me, to put in practise the art of giving. To give with honest sincerity.

...to invite or not to invite

It's very hard for me to reduce the number of tables that my parents has always been wishing for. My mom has been 'thinking' about her guests list since even before anybody said there's gonna be a wedding. My dad feels that those who'd invited him before... he must return the favour to invite back. Ok sounds reasonable...

Now comes my mom's maternal family side : which is going to make up the MOST tables for either side of any of me/sayang family, the question "how NOT to invite their children?"

When I say children, I really mean all of them who are younger than me. Some who are in primary school, who are very noisy and just plain no-eye-see. When you put a few of the family togethers, all bring their own young kids, they'll start running around, shouting around, chasing around...

Now we fix it only "Mr. & Mrs..." at the invitation card, they wont get it. One of the richer granduncle will make noise first, saying they're able to give enough angpow money so that you won't rugi, so what's wrong with bringing along his grandchildren?

So if richer granduncle's grandchildren's are all coming, why can't poorer granduncle's grandchildren come along? (you see we don't have any maid at home to look after the kids, no choice have to bring them along, if not how?!?) "why you look down on us?" -- that's the remark that will be repeated again and again.

If rich granduncle, poor granduncle's whole jin-gang family comes, why can't grand aunty's grandchildren come?

Ok let's do the maths, my ahma is #3 amongst her big Wong+Aw siblings. My ah-chor (great grandmother who died when I was 12) had 2 husbands. The first Wong-husband left, leaving behind my ahma, 2 gu-kong & 1 yi-poh surnamed Wong... the second Aw-husband also had a wife who left him... cut long story short, the Wong and Aw family combined and grew up together in a close-knit family in the poor Padang Regas village, not far from Taiping.

All of them are so close to each other, that even until now, when they're already in their 60's, 70's & 6ft-under... whenever there's a gu-kong or yipoh or ahma birthday, the whole clan (including their children & grandchildren) will come. I actually know all of my extended cousins who exist at ah ma's side.

While I've never met any of my mom's paternal side distance cousins, I don't know some of my dad's side distant cousins... but ahma's side is so special. By chinese-family-relationship status, my ahma's side should be least significant... but the fact is they're physically close!

Who's son got 7As... who's daughter got divorced... who got married due to accident... who got scholarship studying in Spore... who's son got ears pierced like gangster... we all know!

My dad is shaking his head visualizing all the naughty kids making alot of noise running up and down. My mom knows its POINTLESS to limit to "Mr & Mrs only", due to certain family who'll STILL bring their small children along.

...like what KNS said "it may be your wedding, but definitely not your dinner!"

My dad is agreeing to NO SHARKSFIN SOUP. My dad is cool enough to think why not combine chinese and indian food in the menu? *he thinks so many chinese dish boring la*

Dad is thinking, if the dinner is not held during the school holidays, maybe those far-away relatives will not come. If it's held on Sundays, maybe those naughty kids who'll have school on Monday will not come... dad got a point :P
